Recently purchased Ariel at auction from a collection sold as a non runner and not touched for seven years. Had one in my teenage days and loved it. They are a bit marmite and the famous Henry Cole doesn’t like them. I just loved the noise of a 250cc two stroke, not as fast as equivalent Triumphs and BSA’s but handled a lot better. Got it home, changed all the oils, charged the battery, cleaned out petrol tank, petrol switch and carburettor leaked so took apart and cleaned up, carb float had got stuck. All back together, fresh fuel and started on first kick. Fantastic runs well, all gears, clutch and breaks work.
